Major Gaming is an entertainment provider based in Monroe, Georgia (our co-founder Brit’s hometown). It is a mobile-gaming truck that encompasses video games and televisions inside and outside, with 5 TVs on the inside and 2 TVs on the outside. “We have games such as 2K, as well as Madden. And then we go towards Call of Duty, as well as the Nintendo Switch.” Major Gaming has created a mixed-generational experience. “To add a little bit more to that, we also had a successful movie night. We actually pulled up and you got like a VIP movie access. That was a really nice set. So, it’s a movie theater as well.” Major Gaming has hosted birthday parties and car shows and anticipates expanding its game selection to include laser tag.

Its partners aren’t your typical group of gamers. “Coming from Monroe, there’s not a lot of avenues for kids.” Major Gaming’s founders saw an opportunity to provide entertainment to kids in their village. “When you typically deal with home, you put the focus on your kids, your village. A lot of the kids around here are [in] some kind of way related to us. Raphael is the Founder and Manager of the Raphael O. Crutchfield “Be Great” Scholarship Fund ([email protected]). Rashaad is a licensed funeral director, embalmer, and coroner in the state of Georgia. And Pat, a Distribution Center Manager for a multinational retailer.
Major Gaming aims to provide a healthy place for kids to learn, grow, and have a fun-filled experience. Although COVID-19 has slowed business, the game ain’t over. “You try to start at home first and focus on building up the community around us, and once we tackle home, then we can go outside of Monroe, our community.” Their truck has inspired the youth. “You can see him light up when he discovered that we actually made this game truck, majority of it, in a backyard. His energy just elevated. I’ll forever remember that one moment.” Raphael describes a conversation with a young, black teen. “He was just blown away. That was priceless to me.”

The founders used their personal funds to build the company. They purchased their truck in South Georgia, and as obstacles and opportunities presented themselves, they divvied up costs and kept moving forward until the project was completed. The response from the community has been positive. “A lot of social media shares and basically, a lot of inquiries in reference to the gaming truck have been made.” The City of Monroe has called upon Major Gaming to foster equality and positive environments. “We offer services to all races and generations, so it’ll kind of be a place to bring everyone together.”
Rashaad is pursuing further education to become a residential contractor to provide affordable housing. Raphael will continue to fund the youth while helping his brother Pat launch a trucking company.
