Homemade anything is always bomb AF. It honestly just tastes like pure love. Our friend, Chelsea Houston, shares her favorite recipe for the yummiest, love-infused southern biscuits. They are perfect for Saturday brunch (sausage and gravy biscuits… duh) and divine for Sunday dinner. Check out the recipe below.
The Biscuits That Keep On Giving
Serving Size12-14 Biscuits
About 30 minutes
– 1 cup of sliced (cubed) or shredded salted butter
– 4 cups of self-rising flour
– 2 cups of buttermilk or whipping cream
– ½ cup melted butter and 100% cane sugar
Slice or Shred 1 cup of butter into the flour with a pastry cutter or fork until crumbly or pea-size. Add buttermilk or whipping cream. Mix dry ingredients with a spatula until moistened. **Do not overmix ingredients**
Dump the dough onto a lightly floured surface, and massage lightly for 30 seconds or until mixture is combined. Roll out dough into a rectangle to your desired thickness; cut with a 2-inch round cutter or cup, then place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake at 405° F for 15 minutes or until browned.
Brush biscuits with ½ melted butter and cane sugar mix.
Garnish with berry compote, jams, jellies, or drizzled local honey.
