The Biscuits That Keep On Giving

Ingredients
– 1 cup of sliced (cubed) or shredded salted butter
– 4 cups of self-rising flour
– 2 cups of buttermilk or whipping cream
– ½ cup melted butter and 100% cane sugar
Directions
Slice or Shred 1 cup of butter into the flour with a pastry cutter or fork until crumbly or pea-size. Add buttermilk or whipping cream. Mix dry ingredients with a spatula until moistened. **Do not overmix ingredients**
Dump the dough onto a lightly floured surface, and massage lightly for 30 seconds or until mixture is combined. Roll out dough into a rectangle to your desired thickness; cut with a 2-inch round cutter or cup, then place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake at 405° F for 15 minutes or until browned.
Brush biscuits with ½ melted butter and cane sugar mix.
Garnish with berry compote, jams, jellies, or drizzled local honey.
